Mark Oppenheimer, PhD
I first encountered the transformative power of ketamine therapy in 2017 when I joined Carlos Zarate's research lab at the National Institutes of Health. I had a front-row seat to some of the most compelling work in modern psychiatry. Zarate had spent years building the evidence base for ketamine as a rapid-acting treatment for depression, and what I witnessed in those clinical trials was incredible. Patients who had exhausted every available treatment, who had carried the weight of treatment-resistant depression for years, responding within hours. I never forgot their stories.
I returned to Miami to pursue my PhD in neuroscience at the University of Miami, studying opioid addiction and the gut-brain axis, but I never stopped being curious about ketamine therapy and psychedelic medicine. By the time I graduated in 2025, the field of psychedelic medicine had continued to boom, but the clinical infrastructure available was not keeping pace. Most ketamine clinics were built around speed and volume, not around the depth of what the medicine could actually do in the right hands, in the right environment, with the right therapeutic support.
Transcend Medicine is my answer to that gap. I founded it with the conviction that ketamine-assisted therapy, and the broader field of psychedelic medicine that is emerging around it, deserves a clinical home built to match its potential. A space designed with set and setting at its core. A therapeutic model that takes preparation and integration as seriously as the medicine itself. And a long view that positions us for where this field is heading, not just where it is today.
We're building something. Come build it with us.
Transcend Medicine is assembling a founding clinical team in Miami. We are looking for practitioners who believe that mental health care is overdue for transformation, and want to be part of building a
clinic at the forefront of psychedelic medicine.

Prescribing Clinician
MD, DO, APRN
This is the clinical anchor of Transcend Medicine. As our founding clinician, you will oversee patient evaluations, refine treatment protocols, and administer ketamine therapy in a practice environment built around doing this work the right way. You will have meaningful input into how the clinic operates and grows.
We are looking for a licensed physician or advanced practice registered nurse with a genuine interest in ketamine and psychedelic medicine. Prior ketamine experience is valued but not required. What matters most is clinical rigor, patient-centered instincts, and a belief that this field represents something important.
What you'll do
-
Conduct patient evaluations and determine clinical appropriateness for ketamine therapy
-
Prescribe and oversee ketamine administration across individual and group sessions
-
Collaborate with therapists on patient preparation, in-session support, and integration
-
Contribute to clinical protocol development and quality improvement
-
Participate in building a practice culture grounded in safety, research, and patient dignity
Compensation structure and hours tailored to the right candidate— I want to pay you competitively and incentivize you to invest personally in the clinic.
Licensed Therapist
KAP Guide
Therapy is not a supplement to ketamine treatment at Transcend Medicine, it is equal with the medicine. Our therapists work with patients across the full arc of the ketamine-assisted psychotherapy experience: building the therapeutic relationship in preparation, holding the space during the ketamine session, and facilitating the integration work that turns a profound experience into lasting change.
We welcome licensed therapists from a range of clinical backgrounds who are drawn to this work. Prior ketamine or psychedelic therapy training is a meaningful advantage, but genuine interest and strong therapeutic instincts matter more than a specific credential. If you have been looking for a practice environment that takes both the science and the depth of this work seriously, we want to hear from you.
What you'll do
-
Conduct preparation sessions to establish therapeutic rapport, set intentions, and prepare patients for the ketamine experience
-
Provide in-session therapeutic presence and support during ketamine-assisted psychotherapy sessions
-
Lead integration sessions to help patients process and apply insights from their treatment
-
Collaborate closely with the prescribing clinician on patient care and protocol refinement
-
Contribute to a clinical culture defined by safety, intentionality, and patient dignity
Compensation structure and hours tailored to the right candidate— I want to pay you competitively and incentivize you to invest personally in the clinic.

Don't fit neatly into either role?
We are building something from scratch, and the right people don't always arrive in expected forms. If you are a clinician, researcher, or practitioner who believes in what we are building and wants to be part of it, reach out. We are open to conversations that don't start with a job description.
